Polish TV programme 'TV Polonia' has already featured Alexandra three times - and she was recently interviewed for an international Polish magazine.

For Alexandra, who is originally from Zabrze, about 40 minutes' drive from Krakow, it has all come as quite a shock.

"My family tell me when I'm on the TV - my grandma saw me first and rang to tell me," she said. "The TV programme has gone all over the world. It's mad - I'm going to be famous for just being me.

"I've got no idea how they found out about me. I rang them up and they just said they watch all the news from all over.

"On the TV programme it showed Chicago, where there are something like 10 million Poles - then they showed me. I'm getting more famous there - but I'm so proud to be here, I'd prefer to be noticed here.

"I've said no to other opportunities - they wanted to do a documentary on me but I turned it down. I now represent the Polish community in Derwentside - the North East is my home."

Alexandra moved to the North East after getting a job at a jobs fair in Poland. "Within half an hour I had a job and a flat in Newcastle. I just couldn't believe it - dreams really do come true," she added.
