A Modern Day Indiana Jones to Visit Pongracz / LaLonde Jewelers in Grosse Pointe Farms May 27-29; Gary Bowersox, An American Who Has Traveled to Afghanistan and Pakistan for 30 Years Will Sign His New Book, Showcase His Fabulous Gem Collection.

GROSSE POINTE FARMS, Mich., May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- World renowned traveler Gary W. Bowersox, who knows the most likely hiding spots of Osama bin Laden, will appear at Pongracz / LaLonde Jewelers in Grosse Pointe Farms May 27-29, 2004 (located at 91 Kercheval, 313-881-6400) for a spectacular jewelry show and to discuss his book The Gem Hunter, True Adventures of an American in Afghanistan. Bowersox will showcase his fabulous gem collection and autograph his new book about the politics, intrigue and secrets of Afghanistan at Pongracz / LaLonde Jewelers from 9:30 a.m.-7 p.m. May 27 & 28 and from 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 29. The store's showcases will be filled with thousands of faceted and uncut gems, lapis carvings and relics of the past, all available for purchase.

The Gem Hunter, True Adventures of an American in Afghanistan (ISBN 0- 9747323-1-1 $29.95 - 505 pages), is the story of Gary Bowersox's 30-year endeavor to research and discover precious gems and lead an exciting life. He finds both, but not without risking his life avoiding war, corruption and diseases. The book is available from fine booksellers everywhere or the publisher at or by calling 877-612-9078.

Bowersox served as a consultant to the U.S. Department of Defense shortly after September 11th. The Department of Defense wanted to know about Afghanistan -- where the landmines were, the tunnels, where the troops were, and who's who in the Northern Alliance and where their loyalties lay. And Bowersox was able to identify the rock formations behind Bin Laden in photos to help pinpoint his location.
