The second part in a concert piece, especially the lower part in a piano duet.

 is merely playing backup for the primo, this duet features a wonderful dialogue between the parts. The melody flows from one player to the other with neither part taking precedence over the other. The students will enjoy a workout executing scale passages and sharp rhythmic patterns Noun 1. rhythmic pattern - (prosody) a system of versification

. Right from the beginning, the secondo states the first chord followed on the second half of the first beat with the primo's introductory pattern. The A section finds a pattern starting in the secondo and followed by the primo. The B section is a virtual solo for secondo, with primo finishing the melodies with scale passages in octaves. The A section then returns with a slightly more florid florid /flor·id/ (flor´id)
