A Little Dough Raises a Lot of Money; Ohio Students Sell Cookie Dough; Help Raise Funds for NY Firefighters' Families Through Savory Foods Donation Program.

MASSILLON, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 20, 2001

Recently, several hundred students throughout Ohio helped raise $25,000 for families of fallen NY Firefighters and EMTs by selling hundreds of tubs of fresh cookie dough Cookie dough refers to a blend of cookie ingredients which has been mixed into a solid yet malleable form but has not yet been hardened by heat. The dough is often then separated and the portions baked to individual cookies, or eaten as is. .

Following the 9-11 WTC WTC World Trade Center, see there  attack, Savory Foods, the company that supplies cookie dough to organizations for fundraising, pledged a portion of the company's profits to the NY Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund. "After the terrorist attack, we decided the best way we could help was to pledge a portion of our profits to the NY fire fighters families. We asked all of the groups and organizations planning to sell Savory cookie dough if they wanted to participate in a donation program. We were overwhelmed by the positive response," added Toth.

Savory pledged a dime for the first quarter million tubs of cookie dough sold by participating organizations, which included schools and non-profits in four mid-western states. In addition, the schools generated funds for school projects through the cookie dough sales.

The Friendly Association for Mutual Interests founded Massillon, then called Kendal, on a 2,000 acre estate in response to Robert Owen's success in New Harmony,
 will make a ceremonial check presentation to firefighters from the Jackson Township Fire Department symbolizing the efforts of all Ohio students who helped raise funds for the NY 9-11 Fire Fighters Disaster Relief Fund. In addition to presenting the check to the firefighters, the students will be serving freshly baked cookies.
