A Lamb to the Slaughter.

A Lamb to the Slaughter
(Isaiah 53)

We scorned Your name and spurned Your Person
As You walked Calvary's death row in pain.
You did it for us while grief and rejection
You received. Those strips of flesh and crown
Of thorns were borne for our transgression.

The prophet foretold before the events unfold
How You would pay the price to make us whole.
We could not such affliction bear,
So Jesus, You stepped in our oppression to share.
On Golgotha's Hill You died to set us free.

Sin and death, You valiantly conquered
To redeem us before Your Father.
From the foundation of time, You
   Dutifully accepted this death sentence
So that we may receive divine redemption.

   Such kindness, care and forgiveness
Spring from a heart of love.
This eternal light radiates from God above.
Your death dear Lord was not in vain
For you have helped us to grow in the latter rain.
