A LOOK AT NEW FAIR DIGS FIRST BUILDING SET TO OPEN IN MARCH.

LANCASTER - Antelope Valley's new fairgrounds n. pl. 1. same as fairground.  facility is expected to open its first building next month.

The Watch and Wager center, where people can watch satellite broadcasts of horse racing horse racing, trials of speed involving two or more horses. The new fairgrounds is going up on Avenue H west of the Antelope Valley Freeway The Antelope Valley Freeway is a freeway in Los Angeles and Kern counties in southern California. It is signed as California State Highway 14 along its length. It connects Greater Los Angeles to the rapidly developing Antelope Valley. . The first fair is expected to be held there in 2004.

The new Watch and Wager facility will have a capacity of approximately 850 people. The site will feature huge video screens and close to 100 televisions.

The facility is expected to be open Wednesday through Sunday, like the present one at the old fairgrounds at 155 E. Ave. I. It will show races from the Santa Anita Santa Anita may refer to:

The new facility will also feature an outdoor patio, restaurant and parking. The restaurant will have sit-down dining and a concession area.

Admission will be free when the facility first opens.

``First off, admission will be free just to give people an opportunity to come over and look at it,'' said Jacobs.

Still under construction at the new fairgrounds are two exhibit halls, a building with restrooms and showers for a recreation vehicle park, an entry office and a 7,000-seat grandstand. A show arena and two livestock barns are planned next.

Fair officials had intended the 2002 to be the last one at the 64-year-old fairgrounds in downtown Lancaster, but in November they decided to use the old facility again next August.

The new fairgrounds will open in phases. The exhibit halls are expected to open for rentals next October, and then the grounds will open for rentals in January 2004. The first fair will be in August 2004.
