A LITTLE SLICE OF PARADISE AT 34 PERCENT SAVINGS: MARRIOTT'S MARCO ISLAND RESORT AND GOLF CLUB

A LITTLE SLICE OF PARADISE AT 34 PERCENT SAVINGS:
MARRIOTT'S MARCO ISLAND RESORT AND GOLF CLUB
MARCO ISLAND, Fla., July 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Recently named one of "America's Top Twenty Resorts" by Conde Nast Traveler, Marriott's Marco Island Resort and Golf Club has introduced several new activities, including exotic surfside celebrations, a seafood market and a newly opened golf course (October 1991), to "spice up" its spectacular packages priced at more than 34 percent off regular winter rates. Located on the last inhabited "Island of 10,000" off the southernmost tip of Florida's Gulf coast, the resort presents 735 guest rooms and suites, three-and-one-half miles of sweeping sands and brilliant, turquoise waters.
"Although we offer traditional resort activities in grand style -- championship golf, tennis and swimming -- the resort also offers unusual activities and amenities guests might not experience anywhere else," says Charlie Frankel, director of marketing for Marriott's Marco Island Resort and Golf Club.
"From Moonlight Lobster Bakes under the stars and Sunset Jazz Barbecues in the sand to touring the ancient Island burial mounds of the Caluso Indians, activities are plentiful and always an adventure," says Frankel.
This unique "twist" is evident in the resort's new amenities as well. A "Fresh Fish Market" restaurant, one of 10 restaurants and lounges on property, allows guests a choice of several freshly hooked species -- all cooked to order in every imaginable way. A poolside pizzeria has also been added to satisfy midday cravings of hungry sunbathing crowds.
Another new creation for fall guests -- The Golf Club at Marco -- is a 6,925-yard course carved from forests of Australian pine and palm and laced with vast lagoons and waterways. Home to the prestigious John Jacobs School of Golf, named "Golf School of Choice" by Golf Magazine, the course offers a 14-acre learning facility and a spectacular Olde Florida-style clubhouse.
