A LA CARTE EXOTIC ICE CREAMS AND SORBETS.

Actually, vanilla, strawberry and chocolate still rule, but it's fun for diners to check out the more obscure, sometimes quite creative, flavors of ice cream and sorbets that are available as cooling desserts on restaurant tables this summer.

So here are a few restaurants where the adventurous palate will discover ice creams and/or sorbets worth a try:

Belvedere

Flavor(s): Orange-basil, citrus-tarragon and beet, have been some of the complimentary sorbets served between appetizers and entrees. Look for bleu cheese and/or tomato ice creams as desserts.

Granita gra·ni·ta

Flavor(s): Locally made cinnamon, brown sugar and banana ice creams by Van Nuys-based Dandy Don's are served together.

Cuisine: Contemporary continental/Italian.

Flavor(s): Dulce de leche Dulce de leche in Spanish, dolç de llet in Catalan, or doce de leite in Portuguese ("milk candy"), is a milk-based syrup.

Found as both a sauce and a caramel-like candy, it is popular in Argentina.
 ice cream and melon, mango, blueberry blueberry, plant of the large genus Vaccinium, widely distributed shrubs (occasionally small trees) of the family Ericaceae (heath family), usually found on acid soil. They are often confused with the related huckleberry.  and aromatic sorbets.
