Thanksgiving dinner The centerpiece of contemporary Thanksgiving in the United States is a large meal, starring a large roasted turkey. All of the dishes in the traditional American version of Thanksgiving Dinner are made from foods native to North America, according to tradition the Pilgrims received these  at a restaurant can be an expensive proposition, especially if the family party is large.

Seems that it wasn't that long ago when there were plenty of turkey opportunities priced under $10.

No more - unless you're speaking of a turkey sandwich.

Still, there are a few reasonably priced turkey dinners around. Just don't expect a lot of frills Frills

see frilled.

Here are a few of those under-$20 offers worth consideration:

Cafe Plaza

You pay: $16.95 (half price for children 6 to 12, 10 cents per pound of weight for kids under 6.)

Knott Chicken Dinner Restaurant/Knott Family Steak House

You get: One or more of Knott's estimated 10,000 turkey dinners to be sold for Thanksgiving or ham or prime rib plus apple stuffing, mashed potatoes with giblet gravy green beans, cranberry sauce, rolls, Knott's preserves, choice of mushroom soup or waldorf salad and a pumpkin pie ending.
