A LA CARTE : SUMMER FOOD AND WINE FESTIVALS.

The California Winemasters event held May 16 at Paramount Studios has kicked off the annual food and wine festival season and raised in excess of $500,000 to fight cystic fibrosis.

Great Chefs of Los Angeles

Where: Beverly Hills Hotel The Beverly Hills Hotel is a hotel in Beverly Hills, CA, at 9641 Sunset Boulevard. It was opened on May 12, 1912 and started by Margaret J. Anderson and her son, Stanley S. Anderson, who had been managing the Hollywood Hotel. , 9641 W. Sunset Blvd., Beverly Hills.

When: 5:30 p.m. June 14.

Costs: $185 per person (or $1,300 per table) includes all drink and food tastes. Black tie optional.

Participants: Josiah Citrin and Raphael Lunetta of JiRaffe in Santa Monica are coordinating chefs with Katsuo ``Suki'' Sugiura of the Beverly Hills Hotel and Joe Miller of Joe's in Venice. Also on hand will be chefs Patrick Healy of the Buffalo Club in Santa Monica, Lee Hefter and Matt Bencivenga of Spago in Beverly Hills, Nancy Silverton of Campanile campanile (kămpənē`lē, Ital. kämpänē`lā), Italian form of bell tower, constructed chiefly during the Middle Ages.  and La Brea Bakery in Los Angeles and Suzanne Tracht of Jozu in West Hollywood.

Taste of Orange County

Where: Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro. (Take the 405 or 5 freeways to Sand Canyon Avenue exit in Irvine.

When: 5 p.m. to midnight June 26, noon to midnight June 27, noon to to 10 p.m. June 28.

KCRW's Summerday

Where: Pacific Design Center, 8687 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood.

When: Auction at 11 a.m., tasting at 3 p.m. June 21.

Costs: $100 for auction and tasting events, $70 tasting only. Tickets go on sale June 1.

When: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday through Monday.

Costs: Admission free. Payment by scrip. Tastes priced from $1.25 to $8.75. Rides and amusements from $1.25 to $7.50.

Participants: Area restaurants, beverage and food specialty companies. Art galleries and artists. Jazz music, pony rides, petting zoo, llama llama (lä`mə), South American domesticated ruminant mammal, Lama glama, of the camel family. Genetic studies indicate that it is descended from the guanaco.  and train rides, animals, face painting, ferris wheel, slide, swings.

Beneficiary: Pasadena Scholarship Committee for Americans of Mexican and Latino Descent. Also Pasadena Jaycees.
