Where did all the oyster bars go? Seems like only yesterday they were commonplace in many restaurants, but now they're mostly only in seafood houses.

For oyster lovers, here are a few restaurants with oyster bars worth consideration:

Cheesecake Factory

Clearwater Seafood

Comments: Eight-seat bar serves the complete restaurant menu. Usually at least three cooked oyster dishes available.

Type: Currently offering Canadian Malpeques, Cape Bretons, Caraquets and oysters from Salutation Cove; also Coromandels from New Zealand and domestic Long Island oysters.

Price: Three range from $4.95 to $5.95, a half-dozen cost from $9.95 to $11.50, double per dozen. Oyster Sunset Hour runs weeknights from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 3 to 6 p.m., when the oyster of the day costs only 75 cents each.

Comments: Has a five-seat bar in the lounge area serving a full restaurant menu, also oysters Rockefeller and oyster shooters.

Type: Malpeques are the current ones.

Price: $8.95 for half a dozen, $13.95 a dozen.
