A LA CARTE : HOTEL HAPPENINGS ON NEW YEAR'S EVE.

Hotels are increasingly popular for New Year's Eve celebrations.

They have obvious advantages. Large groups of friends or relatives can make block arrangements because many of the hotels hold big bashes in their ballrooms as well as in their more intimate restaurant facilities.

In many cases, it's not hard to get last-minute reservations. And, most importantly Adv. 1. most importantly - above and beyond all other consideration; "above all, you must be independent"
above all, most especially
, they offer attractive packages with room discounts for people who would rather stay the night than drive home after a party.

Here then, are a few New Year's Eve celebrations (final seatings) at hotels worth consideration:

Hotel Bel-Air The Hotel Bel-Air is a 5-star boutique hotel located in Bel-Air, Los Angeles, California.

Since opening in 1946, the 91-room Hotel Bel-Air, located on Stone Canyon Road, has served many celebrities, heads of state and dignitaries.

Meal deal: Five-course dinner begins at 9 p.m. Includes champagne, favors, dancing to live trio. Cost: $275 per person. Room extra.

Beverly Hills Hotel The Beverly Hills Hotel is a hotel in Beverly Hills, CA, at 9641 Sunset Boulevard. It was opened on May 12, 1912 and started by Margaret J. Anderson and her son, Stanley S. Anderson, who had been managing the Hollywood Hotel.

Parties (a la carte prices) also in the Sunset Lounge (with dancing) and Polo Lounge The Polo Lounge is located inside the Beverly Hills Hotel at 9641 Sunset Boulevard, Beverly Hills, CA. The menu "still offers a classic Neil McCarthy salad, named after the polo-playing millionaire.  (with live entertainment).

Miscellaneous: New Year's Day New Year's Day, among ancient peoples the first day of the year frequently corresponded to the vernal or autumnal equinox, or to the summer or winter solstice. In the Middle Ages it was celebrated among Christians usually on Mar. 25.  three-course champagne brunch in Polo Lounge (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) $44.

Beverly Plaza Hotel The Plaza Hotel in New York City is a landmark 19-story luxury hotel with a height of 250 feet (76 m) and length of 400 feet that (122 m) occupies the west side of Grand Army Plaza, from which it derives its name, and extends along Central Park South in Manhattan.

Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel

Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel

New Otani Hotel & Garden

Meal deal: Kaiseki (multicourse) dinner at 1,000 Cranes restaurant is $70. Dinner in Azalea azalea (əzāl`yə) [Gr.,=dry], any species of the genus Rhododendron, North American and Asian shrubs of the family Ericaceae (heath family) that are distinguished by the usually deciduous leaves.  restaurant is $35 plus party admission $20.

Package: Room for two, kaiseki dinner and party, sake welcome, osechi brunch on New Year's Day and valet parking is $445.

Hotel Nikko
