A LA CARTE : BEAUJOLAIS NOUVEAU.

Although beaujolais nouveau Beaujolais nouveau is a red wine made from Gamay grapes produced in the Beaujolais region of France. It is the most popular vin de primeur, fermented for just a few weeks then officially released for sale on the third Thursday of November.  celebrations locally seem to have lost a little steam in recent years, there is still sporadic interest, as well there should be.

This is the time when the just-finished harvest is honored with the brand-new French beaujolais wine of the current vintage (yes, that's 1999) being rushed to market, officially the third Thursday in November.

It's a big deal in Paris and many other cities around the world. In the French capital, arrival of the first cases of these ``primeur'' wines every November results in the populace rushing to fill containers with this young, fruity, red wine.

In Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. , you have to look hard to find these celebrations.

Here are few we've found that are worth consideration:

Asiatique Bistro

Address: 12321 Ventura Blvd., Studio City.

Phone: (818) 761-7696.

Cuisine: Asian-French.

Event: Nouveaux wines poured with special dishes and regular menu items, and there'll be festive decorations.

When: At lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and for dinner from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Thursday.

Price: Regular prices for food, $4 to $5 per glass, $15 to $20 per bottle.

Fins

Address: 23504 Calabasas Road, Calabasas, and 982 S. Westlake Blvd., Westlake.

Cuisine: Seafood.

Event: At both locations, the regular menu and some special dishes will be served in a festive atmosphere. Both George DuBoeuf and Jaffelin wines will be poured. Piano entertainment at Calabasas.

When: From 6 p.m. Thursday.

Price: Nouveaux are $20 per bottle, $5 per glass. Regular menu prices for food.

Pacific Design Center

Address: 8687 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood West Hollywood

A community of southern California northeast of Beverly Hills. It is mainly residential. Population: 36,600.

Cuisine: French.

Event: This is the 16th annual ``Vive Le Beaujolais'' wine festival where some 1500 attendees taste 10 beaujolais crus and samples of this year's nouveau. Food is provided by importers, local food stores and restaurants. Music for dancing, French entertainers, and several trips to France and Tahiti as prizes.

When: From 6:30 to 10 p.m. Friday.

Price: $45 (inclusive).

Pinot Bistro

Cuisine: Upscale Californian-French bistro.

Event: Four-course prix-fixe dinner with unlimited nouveau wine, seafood soup, choice of one of four second courses, four main courses (roasted pork loin loin (loin) the part of the back between the thorax and pelvis.

Event: Four-course prix-fixe dinner (includes a glass of George DuBoeuf beaujolais nouveau) of almond-coated brie with raspberry sauce or escargots in puff pastry puff pastry

Second course choices: sand dabs Provencale, salmon in red wine, linguine with grilled sausages, half duck with plum sauce, calf's liver and onions, filet of port tarragon tarragon (târ`əgŏn), perennial aromatic Old World herb (Artemisia dracunculus) of the family Asteraceae (aster family), of the same genus as wormwood and sagebrush. , breast of chicken Dijonnaise, beef Bourguignon. George DuBoeuf nouveau wine available by the glass and bottle.
