A LA CARTE : BASTILLE DAY.

Ready to give up pizza and pasta for a moment and see what's happening on the French culinary scene?

Bastille Day celebrations are a good time to renew acquaintanceship with La Grande Cuisine. Some of the celebrations are on the actual day, Sunday, and others are beginning earlier in the week.

Here are a few places that will honor the storming of the Bastille The Storming of the Bastille in Paris occurred on 14 July 1789. While the medieval fortress and prison known as the Bastille contained only seven prisoners, its fall was the flashpoint of the French Revolution and it subsequently become an icon of the French Republic. :

Menu: Brunch including champagne mimosa, soup de jour or Caesar salad, choice of five entrees (i.e. skirt steak with egg, fresh tuna Nicoise salad), chocolate mousse or vanilla coupe glace.

Menu: Three-course prix-fixe dinner - select one appetizer, one entree and one dessert - from a variety of options such as escargots as a starter; riz de veau, tournedo Henri IV or carre d'agneau roti aux herbes de Provence Herbes de Provence (Provençal herbs) are a mixture of dried herbs from Provence invented in the 1970s.[1]

The mixture typically contains rosemary, marjoram, basil, bay leaf, thyme, and sometimes lavender flowers and other herbs.
