A LA CARTE : AND THE SEASON BEGINS.

Although the emphasis this year has been on New Year's Eve celebrations, the regular holiday season is well under way. Consequently, local restaurants are offering special events and special foods. Hotels, in particular, traditionally schedule ceremonies and holiday happenings.

Here are a few restaurants with festive offerings worth consideration:

Admiral Risty

Beverly Hilton Hotel

Happenings: Traditional English Christmas Eve dinner with musical entertainment by Victorian period performers.

Century Plaza Hotel The Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles is a landmark 19-story luxury hotel forming a sweeping crescent design fronting the spectacular fountains on Avenue of the Stars adjacent to the twin Century Plaza Towers.

La Cachette

Happenings: Strolling carolers and festive decorations are a tradition here. Closed on Christmas Day.

It includes chestnut soup, fresh sardines, or a lentil lentil, leguminous Old World annual plant (Lens culinaris) with whitish or pale blue flowers. Its pods contain two greenish-brown or dark-colored seeds, also called lentils, which when fully ripe are ground into meal or used in soups and stews.  and sausage stew, baked codfish (baccala) and two pasta dishes.

Wine Bistro

Cuisine: Bistro French.

Happenings: Both the Wine Bistro and its sister restaurant, Le Sanglier (5522 Crebs Ave., Tarzana, 818-345-0470), will be serving Christmas Eve dinners.
