A LA CARTE : BASTILLE DAY.

Once again, it's that time of year to storm local French restaurants that might be busy celebrating Bastille Day.

It falls this year on Monday, normally a slow - or closed - restaurant day. So most places either put on the dog, or forget the celebration altogether.

Here are a few restaurants that will definitely be doing something worth consideration:

Bistro 45

Address: 45 S. Mentor Ave., Pasadena.

Phone: (818) 795-2478.

Menu: Family-style prix-fixe dinner. One seating at 6 p.m. Chilled soup at arrival. Platters of food delivered to tables include salads, leg of lamb with flageolets, grilled sausages, chicken provencal, quiches, grilled vegetables, pommes frites. Dessert buffet.

Price: $35 (includes all wines and beers, food, tax and tip).

Miscellaneous: Festive decorations. Live jazz band. Casual attire welcome.

Cafe St. Michel

Address: 11929 Ventura Blvd., Studio City.

Phone: (818) 761-9800.

Menu: Three-course, prix-fixe dinner. Appetizers, entrees and desserts from regular menu or from list of specials du jour.

Price: $19.95.

Menu: Four-course prix-fixe dinner begins with chestnut and morel morel

Any of various species of edible mushrooms in the genera Morchella and Verpa. Morels have a convoluted or pitted head, or cap, vary in shape, and occur in diverse habitats. The edible M.
 mushroom soup followed by a lobster salad with a white truffle truffle (trŭf`əl) [Fr.], subterranean edible fungus that forms a mutually beneficial (symbiotic) relationship with the roots of certain trees and plants. The part of the fungus used as food is the ascoma, the fruiting body of the fungus.  vinaigrette and tricolor tricolor

 sauce, wild mushroom-stuffed chicken breast or tournedo of salmon with a cabernet and shallot sauce boosted with chervil chervil (chûr`vəl), name for two similar edible Old World herbs of the family Umbelliferae (parsley family).
