Cultural pursuits deserve nourishment.

It's always good to know that refreshments can be enjoyed if you're spending a block of time at a particular museum. But, the quality of museum fare varies greatly.

Some replenishment stops do appear worthy of visits even aside from the museum. Here, therefore, are a few of those worth consideration:

DC3

Museum: Museum of Flying.

Comments: This is a complete restaurant featuring a modern California-style menu. It has unusual design, a full bar and a terrific view.

Price range: Around $15 or so per person for lunch and $30 for dinner.

Hours: Open for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. weekdays, for dinner from 6 to 10 p.m. nightly except Sunday and Monday, until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and for Sunday brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Garden Tea Room

Comments: McDonald's operates out of a trailer and has some, but not all of the expected fast-food fare. Cafe Imax is a minimal snacks and soft drink facility.

Price range: Under $5.

Hours: McDonald's from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, Cafe Imax from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Patinette

Museum: Museum of Contemporary Art.

Address: 250 S. Grand Ave., Los Angeles.

Service: Partial self-service.

Comments: Operated by chef Joachim Splichal, who owns such restaurants as Patina and Pinot Bistro. Try the focaccia sandwich with roast beef, the roast garlic chicken sandwich Noun 1. chicken sandwich - a sandwich made with a filling of sliced chicken

Comments: There are always lunch specials plus both a salad and dessert bar. Sandwiches, soup and chili are prepared daily. Beer and wine is available.

Hours: Open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Rose Garden Tea Room and Cafe

Museum: Huntington Library and Gardens.

Comments: The prix-fixe cream tea in the tea room consists of finger sandwiches, dessert items, fresh fruit, cheeses, tea and scones. Sandwich and snack fare is available in the cafe.

Price range: $11 per person for the cream tea. From $3 to $7 in the cafe.

Hours: Open from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Topaz Cafe

Museum: Bowers Museum of Cultural Art.

Service: Full restaurant service.

Comments: One of Orange County's hidden gems is this courtyard cafe featuring delightful California and Southwestern fare.

Price range: $15 to $25.

Hours: Open for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, for dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, for Sunday brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
