A LA CARTE; ST. PATRICK'S DAY.

The obvious places for revelers to gather on St. Patrick's St. Patrick's or Saint Patrick's may refer to:
  • Saint Patrick's Day, named after the saint
  • St. Patrick's Purgatory, an ancient pilgrimage in Lough Derg, County Donegal, Ireland
 Day are the numerous Irish restaurants and bars around town, those with such familiar names as Monahan's, Timmy Nolan's, Ireland's 32, Dublin's, Gallagher's and Brennan's.

But what about the others, those non-Irish restaurants that cook up big batches of corned beef and cabbage and other Irish fare and pour Irish drinks? Some of them really go all out and totally green for this festive day on Friday.

Here are a few of those Irish-for-a-day restaurants worth considering:

Barron's Family Restaurant

Address: 4130 W. Burbank Blvd., Burbank.

Cuisine: Homestyle American.

Food: Corned beef and cabbage dinner ($8.95) includes boiled potatoes, carrots, turnips, onions and rutabagas; also soup or salad and house- baked bread.

Entertainment: Connie Barron may break out in song.

Derek's

Address: 181 E. Glenarm, Pasadena.

Cuisine: Californian.

Food: Corned beef and cabbage meal ($45) begins with oyster shooters canape and parsnip Parsnip, river, Canada

Food: Reuben-style corned beef sandwich ($5.99), corned beef plate ($4.99). Green beer is $2.25.

Entertainment: Bagpipers. Leprechaun leprechaun (lĕp`rəkŏn), Irish fairy represented as a tiny old man. Leprechauns are mischievous and elusive creatures, said to possess buried crocks of gold, the location of which they will reveal if forced. . Miller, Bud and Coors girls.
