A House Divided.

A House Divided is a call for "new patriots," people who care deeply for democracy and are committed to making it succeed.

Author Mark Gerzon, co-founder of the Common Enterprise, provides a framework for explaining and exploring six major world perspectives. He suggests these six forces or "states" are "struggling for America's soul" and contributing to the increasing divisions in our country. In powerful and exacting terms, Gerzon describes the six as Patria PATRIA. The country; the men of the neighborhood competent to serve on a jury; a jury. This word is nearly synonymous with pais. Gerzon delineates the philosophy, leaders, goals and strategies of each state. He goes on to suggest that, in addition to the dangers inherent, each state also enriches our democracy in some way.

In the final chapters, Gerzon calls for a new definition of patriotism Patriotism
