Written with true originality by Joanne Crawford and distinctively illustrated by Grace Fielding, A Home For Bilby is about a small Australian marsupial marsupial (märs`pēəl), member of the order Marsupialia, or pouched mammals.  with blue-grey silky fur that is called a "bilby". Bilby is very shy and sad. When they notice him, all the other animals including Kangaroo kangaroo, name for a variety of hopping marsupials, or pouched mammals, of the family Macropodidae, found in Australia, Tasmania, and New Guinea. The term is applied especially to the large kangaroos of the genus Macropus. , Platypus platypus (plăt`əpəs), semiaquatic egg-laying mammal, Ornithorhynchus anatinus, of Tasmania and E Australia. Also called duckbill, or duckbilled platypus, it belongs to the order Monotremata (see monotreme), the most primitive group , Koala koala (kōä`lə), arboreal marsupial, or pouched mammal, Phascolarctos cinereus, native to Australia. Although it is sometimes called koala bear, or Australian bear, and is somewhat bearlike in appearance, it is not related to true , Wombat and others, try to help the Bibly find his home. The result is an utterly charming picturebook story that will engage the interest of (and thoroughly entertain) young readers preschool through first grade. A Home For Billy would make a popular addition to any family, school, or community library picturebook collection.
