A Green Wave: How Did Three Women, Organic Goji Berries and 2,500 Coconut Shells End up at the NFL Super Bowl XLIII Tailgate Party in Tampa This Year?

ORLANDO, Fla. -- On Feb. 1, amid the palm trees in Tampa, Fla., 11,000 Super Bowl VIPs will be going "coconuts" over a nutritious snack you might not expect to find at a Super Bowl party! A Green Wave, a women-owned, Florida-based business, was selected as an Organic Green Company to provide healthy, organic food at the Super Bowl XLIII Tailgate Party. The NFL's Emerging Business Program selects local minority- and women-owned businesses that are forward-thinking, creative and innovative, and offers them the opportunity to bid for contracts and participate in Super Bowl business events.

"We're honored to be selected to participate in this exciting event," said Sarah Cahill, Co-Founder of A Green Wave, "and we're delighted to work for the second year in a row with the NFL - an organization that shares our passion for sports, healthy lifestyle and high-level performance." The Orlando-based business, which also operates from Phoenix, Ariz., was approved by the NFL to license three healthy lifestyle products with the Super Bowl XLII logo.

According to Co-Founder Theresa Healy, "Attendees will be treated to the great taste and benefits of organic food. Our custom tropical trail mix for the Super Bowl XLIII Tailgate Party will be made from over 500 pounds of organic dried mango, papaya, banana, goji berries, cashews, Brazil nuts, and dark chocolate, and served in a natural coconut shell."

For Co-Founders Cahill, Healy and Melanie Albert, creating a healthy lifestyle is more than business - it's personal.

Melanie Albert has always enjoyed a healthy lifestyle, but in 1995, her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and the doctors gave her six months to live. "Integrative nutrition and healthy lifestyle became my personal mission. Fourteen years later Mom is happy and healthy," said Ms. Albert.

Albert, Cahill and Healy shared this commitment and experienced similar life-changing journeys that led them to create two businesses. A Green Wave has become the "Go-to" choice for organic food and drinks for large-scale events, and sister company Discover Nutrition 365 inspires and supports people to live a healthy lifestyle 365 days a year. They help people take the first steps of change - like adjusting a Super Bowl Party menu - or shift their entire lifestyle.
