Grammy-nominated saxophonist Dave Koz, host of smooth-jazz radio the Wave's morning show, will play a benefit concert Monday at Knott's Berry Farm for tsunami relief. A donation of $20 will be asked of music fans when Knott's opens from 7 to 10 p.m. for the concert.

Also, Infinity Radio's eight local stations (KRTH, KCBS, KROQ, KFWB, KLSX, KNX, KTWV and KFRG) and sister TV stations CBS 2 and KCAL 9 will stage a daylong fund-raising drive Monday. Cash donations will be channeled through the American Red Cross to provide disaster relief for survivors of the Dec. 26 catastrophe in Southeast Asia. CLASSIC GRUNGE: On the heels of the Nirvana box set, the Rhino Records/Duck Soup retail outlet in Westwood is inviting fans to free screenings of a half-hour 1989 concert film of the band. The footage, to be shown three times Feb. 2 at the store (2028 Westwood Blvd, just north of Olympic), documents a Rhino visit by Nirvana two years before the huge ``Nevermind'' album was recorded. The film was shot by Sam Epstein, a filmmaker and ex-Rhino employee. Rhino was the setting for countless free gigs long before Amoeba Records extended the practice. Along with music products, the Westwood retailer recently launched Duck Soup, an annex of pop culture collectibles including antique toys, vintage jukeboxes, pinball machines, furniture, neon signs, photographs, arcade games and more. FROM DARIN TO DERRING-DO: Superman has found his Lois Lane and his Lex Luthor. Kate Bosworth is in negotiations to play the Man of Steel's plucky fellow reporter, and Kevin Spacey is set to play the superhero's nemesis in Bryan Singer's Superman movie for Warner Bros. Pictures. The comic book movie would reunite the two actors, who currently appear in Spacey's ``Beyond the Sea'' as Sandra Dee and Bobby Darin. The casting of Lane was a long process that ultimately rested on a chemistry test between the actress and Brandon Routh, who is playing Superman, sources said. Bosworth reportedly beat out the likes of Claire Danes, Linda Cardellini and Michelle Monaghan.

FOLLOWING 'INSTINCT': British actor David Morrissey will star opposite Sharon Stone in ``Basic Instinct 2: Risk Addiction,'' in which Stone will reprise her role as the seductive novelist Catherine Tramell. Morrissey will play Dr. Andrew Glass, a psychiatrist who becomes entangled in her cat-and-mouse game. Principal photography will begin in March in London. To be released by MGM, the sequel follows Tramell from San Francisco to London, where she again finds herself in trouble with the law. Glass, a criminal psychiatrist, is appointed by Scotland Yard to evaluate her.

BLOODY DESPERATE: ``Desperate Housewives'' made a grand entrance on British television this week. Its debut on Wednesday on Channel 4, a noncable commercial station, drew 4.6 million viewers, about a quarter of the audience. It was the highest share for the debut of an American show since ``ER'' a decade ago, according to figures from the Broadcasters' Audience Research Board, the British television ratings authority. It was an auspicious debut for the sexy drama, drawing a half-million more viewers than the March finale in Britain of ``Sex and the City,'' to which ``Housewives'' has been widely compared. In the United States ``Housewives'' is the No.2 ranked show, behind ``CSI,'' regularly drawing well over 20 million viewers.

ILLNESS DELAYS U2: U2 has postponed announcing its world tour, which was to begin on March 1 in Miami. A brief statement posted on the band's Web site by its manager, Paul McGuinness, said only that the announcement was delayed ``because the routing is still being worked on.'' But Rolling Stone reported that the postponement was due to a family illness, citing ``a source close to the band.'' A spokesman for the band's management in Ireland declined to comment on that report, but said no band members were ill. The group is scheduled to play at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Feb. 13, and at its induction ceremony for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in New York on March 14.

BAD ROBOT, GREAT RATINGS: On Wednesday night ABC featured a new episode of ``Lost'' and the two-hour season premiere of ``Alias,'' both produced by J.J. Abrams and his company, Bad Robot. The pairing proved to be a winning one, as ABC routed its competition in Nielsen's overnight ratings. ``Lost'' had its highest numbers yet, as 21.46 million tuned in to see what was in the locked briefcase that Kate (Evangeline Lilly) wanted so badly that she dug up a corpse to get its key. It turned out to be a small model airplane. Confusing? Perhaps not so much as ``Alias,'' in which the appearance of a new secret agency - throwing all the characters' motives into question - made the show more baffling, if possible, than it was last season. An audience of 16.05 million watched ``Alias,'' but its numbers dropped with every half-hour.
