A FUN-TO-EAT, FESTIVE TREAT : HALLOWEEN COOKIES ON A STICK.


Cast a spell over Halloween party guests by serving fudgy chocolate cookies in a fun, new way with Halloween Cookies on a Stick. These chocolatey hand-held treats will have party guests screaming for second helpings.

Make them by baking chocolate cookies with a wooden ice cream stick in the center of the cookie dough Cookie dough refers to a blend of cookie ingredients which has been mixed into a solid yet malleable form but has not yet been hardened by heat. The dough is often then separated and the portions baked to individual cookies, or eaten as is. . These make great decorations at Halloween parties and are fun to eat. 1 cup (2 sticks) butter OR margarine, softened

3/4 cup granulated sugar Noun 1. granulated sugar - sugar in the form of small grains

3/4 cup packed light brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 eggs

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Noun 1. cocoa powder - the powdery remains of chocolate liquor after cocoa butter is removed; used in baking and in low fat and low calorie recipes and as a flavoring for ice cream
chocolate - a food made from roasted ground cacao beans
 

1 teaspoon baking soda baking soda: see sodium bicarbonate.  

1/2 teaspoon salt

18 wooden ice cream sticks

Decorating icing

In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla on medium speed of an electric mixer until creamy. Add eggs; beat well. Stir together flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; gradually add to butter mixture, beating until well blended.

Drop dough by scant 1/4 cupfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet, about 3 inches apart. Shape into 1 5/8-inch balls. Insert 1 wooden stick about halfway into center of each. Flatten slightly.

Bake in preheated 350-degree oven 10 to 12 minutes or until set. Cool 3 minutes; carefully remove from cookie sheet to a wire rack See wiring rack. . Cool completely.

Decorate as desired with decorating icing. Makes 18 (3 1/2-inch) cookies.

NUTRITION INFORMATION PER COOKIE: 240 calories; 11 grams fat; 31 grams carbohydrates; 3 grams protein; 50 milligrams cholesterol; 240 milligrams sodium.
