More than 160 delegates met in Brussels in May to attend a major four-day conference on "The Challenge of Change in EU Business Associations," the second in a series of events funded under the European Union European Union (EU), name given since the ratification (Nov., 1993) of the Treaty of European Union, or Maastricht Treaty, to the

European Community
 Research Framework Programme V High Level Scientific Conferences initiative. The aim of the series was to enable knowledge transfer by bringing together EU business association professionals with those who research associations and to develop cutting-edge thinking on the subject.

"This high-level thinking and learning network of practitioners and academic researchers on EU business associations is unique," said Justin Greenwood, Jean Monnet Professor of European Public Policy at The Robert Gordon University The Robert Gordon University (often known as RGU) is a modern university located in Aberdeen, Scotland. Granted university status in 1992, Robert Gordon University currently has approximately 12,790 students<ref name="HESA" /> at its two campuses at Garthdee , Aberdeen, Scotland. "We have brought together most of the key thinkers on the subject, and all of us attending these events learned a lot from the dialogue we had."

The success of the event means that the network it created is set to continue through a more formalized and permanent structure and series of events. ASAE ASAE American Society of Association Executives
