A Common Border, A Shared Goal: Lessons and Inspiration from Mexico for Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights.


In 2006, SIECUS SIECUS Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States  published A Common Border, A Shared Goal: Lessons and Inspiration from MEXICO for Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health Within the framework of WHO's definition of health[1] as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity, reproductive health, or sexual health/hygiene  and Rights, which highlights the successful collaboration between SIECUS and our Mexican colleague Demysex to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights throughout Mexico. This publication shares models for replication, offers tools and guidance for readers, and includes information about SIECUS and Demysex's partnership activities in recent years. These activities include: working together to combat efforts by the far right; educating colleagues in Mexico about the strategies of the far right; delivering critical advocacy training; and developing outreach Outreach is an effort by an organization or group to connect its ideas or practices to the efforts of other organizations, groups, specific audiences or the general public.  and educational tools and materials.

The publication is being shared with policymakers, advocates, colleagues, and nongovernmental organizations Transnational organizations of private citizens that maintain a consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Nongovernmental organizations may be professional associations, foundations, multinational businesses, or simply groups with a common interest in  (NGOs) overseas in print, CD, and online versions in order to educate and mobilize mo·bi·lize
