Lovers of the Venetian esthetic, the Ringlings chose their building plot overlooking the Gulf of Mexico for its view, which reminded them of the lagoon : A Fantasy this month at the Van Wezel. While the starting point of this world premiere is those great circus-themed frescoes that fill John and Mable Ringling's ballroom at the lavish Italianate mansion, choreographer Robert de Warren is weaving something of a psychological journey in presenting how the couple, Mable especially, came to design their fantasy home.
