A COUPLE OF HIGH-FIVES BETWEEN CRITICS.

Byline: Glenn Whipp Daily News Film Writer

Blindly groping my way through a list of 200 movies, here are five that I'd actually pay money to see. (Not that I'll have to.) I didn't include the ``Star Wars'' prequel because the Force is strong enough without my plug.

All the Pretty Horses All the Pretty Horses is a novel by U.S. author Cormac McCarthy published in 1992. Its romanticism (in contrast to the apocalyptic bleakness of McCarthy's earlier work) brought the writer much public attention, spending some time on bestseller charts, earning the U.S. : Again, I go for pedigree. Great book (Cormac McCarthy), accomplished director (Billy Bob Thornton) and a genre I can't get enough of (western). Matt Damon isn't Clint Eastwood, but he is a good bit of casting as John Grady Cole, the hero of McCarthy's border trilogy. (Holidays)

Bringing Out the Dead Bringing Out the Dead is a 1999 English language motion picture. It is a dark drama about paramedics shot mostly at night in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan a neighborhood in New York City, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Nicolas Cage, Ving Rhames, John Goodman, and Tom : Martin Scorsese and screenwriter Paul Schrader gave us ``Taxi Driver,'' ``Raging Bull'' and ``The Last Temptation of Christ The temptation of Christ in Christianity, refers to the temptation of Jesus by the devil as detailed in each of the Synoptic Gospels, at Matthew 4:1-11, Mark 1:12-13, and Luke 4:1-13. .'' Here they team with Nicolas Cage - always best when playing a loose cannon - for a tale of a New York paramedic on the edge. Look for creative sparks to fly. (Autumn)

Man on the Moon: Jim Carrey channels Andy Kaufman. And Milos Forman directs. Enough said. (Autumn)

The Muse: Sharon Stone has a wonderful sense of humor Noun 1. sense of humor - the trait of appreciating (and being able to express) the humorous; "she didn't appreciate my humor"; "you can't survive in the army without a sense of humor"
sense of humour, humor, humour
 - it's just never been utilized before in a decent movie. Who better to let the cat out of the bag to tell a secret, carelessly or willfully.

than Albert Brooks? With an outstanding supporting cast and a host of cameos, this satire about Hollywood shapes up as one of the year's smartest comedies. (June 4)

Wild Wild West: Director Barry Sonnenfeld's take on the classic TV show will be the year's best Bond film. If the world needs saving, I'd take special agent Will Smith over Pierce Brosnan in a heartbeat immediately.

. Add Kevin Kline as the sidekick and Salma Hayek as the requisite babe and you've got the makings of a deliciously wry franchise. (July 2)
