His story: A part-time starter at Wisconsin in 1997, the Georgia Southern University Georgia Southern University, established 1906, is a regional university located in Statesboro, Georgia, USA, and part of the University System of Georgia. It is the largest center of higher education in the southern half of Georgia and is the sixth largest institution in the  product went 11-3 in 36 appearances, nine of which were starts. Will begin season in starting rotation.

JAYSON BASS

His story: A stocky left-handed hitter, Bass could bat cleanup after hitting 10, 11 and 13 homers in his past three minor-league seasons while in the Detroit Tigers The Detroit Tigers are a professional baseball team based in Detroit, Michigan. The Tigers are a member of the Central Division of Major League Baseball's American League. From to the present, the Tigers have played in Comerica Park.  system. Seattle selected him in the Rule V Draft last December.

Vitals: 23-year-old LHP from Scottsdale, Ariz.; 5-11, 175

His story: After a successful college career at Arizona State as a starter, Bond's professional career began as a reliever but will open 1998 in the rotation after making nine starts with the JetHawks at the end of last year.

MIKE BURROWS Mike Burrows is a bicycle designer, best known for the design of the time trial bike manufactured by Lotus for Chris Boardman, though he also contributed to a bicycle for Graeme Obree.  

Vitals: 22-year-old OF from American Fork, Utah American Fork is a city in Utah County, Utah, USA, at the foot of Mount Timpanogos in the Wasatch Range, north of Utah Lake. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 21,941 and was estimated at 22,387 in 2004. It has been rapidly growing since the 1970s. ; 6-4, 180

His story: Will be an outfield starter for the JetHawks. Batted just .249 at Wisconsin but hit 12 homers and drove in 54 runs while stealing 17 bases.

GREG CONNORS

Vitals: 23-year-old catcher from Smithtown, N.Y.; 6-2, 185

His story: Versatile performer will find his way into the lineup most nights. Was a late-season promotion to the JetHawks from Everett and hit two huge home runs, including a two-run shot in playoff win at Stockton.

CIRILO CRUZ

Vitals: 22-year-old 1B from Arroyo, Puerto Rico Arroyo (ah-RO-yo), is a municipality in the Southern Coastal Valley of Puerto Rico and bordered by the Caribbean Sea, east of the municipality of Guayama and northwest of the municipality of Patillas. ; 6-0, 185

His story: The cousin of former JetHawks standout Jose Cruz Jose Luis Cruz (Cheo) can refer to different people:
  • Camarón de la Isla, stage name of José Monje Cruz
  • José Cruz (Sr.) (born 1947), a baseball player
  • José Cruz, Jr.
 Jr., Cirilo Cruz is another valuable player who will start at first base but can also move to third base or the outfield. Hit his only professional home run for the JetHawks late last season.

His story: Seattle's third-round pick in 1997 out of Auburn University Auburn University, main campus at Auburn, Ala.; land-grant and state supported; opened 1859 as East Alabama Male College, reorganized 1872 as the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama; became coeducational 1892; renamed Alabama Polytechnic Institute 1899, , Dunham will be in the starting rotation after making 17 appearances in relief last year at short-season Everett.

LUIS FIGUEROA

Vitals: 21-year-old IF from Carolina, Puerto Rico Carolina (kah-ro-LEE-nah) is a city located in the northern part of Puerto Rico, bordering the Atlantic Ocean; north of Gurabo and Juncos; east of Trujillo Alto and San Juan; and west of Canóvanas and Loíza. ; 6-0, 175

His story: Probably won't be an everyday player, but his bat could translate into some starts. Entering his fourth pro season, batted .286 with 60 RBI RBI

ANTON FRENCH

Vitals: 22-year-old OF from St. Louis, Miss.; 5-11, 176

His story: A former Cardinals, Braves and Blue Jays farmhand, French signed a minor-league contract with the Mariners and will serve as a backup outfielder. Could be valuable as a pinch-runner, stealing 35 bases at Dunedin in 1997.

BRIAN FUENTES Brian Christopher Fuentes (born August 9, 1975 in Merced, California) is a relief pitcher in Major League Baseball who plays for the Colorado Rockies. Previously, Fuentes played for the Seattle Mariners (2001). He bats and throws left-handed.  

Vitals: 22-year-old LHP from Merced; 6-4, 220

His story: A top Mariners pitching prospect, Fuentes could thrive in the California League The California League is a minor league baseball league which operates throughout the state of California. Before 2002, it was classified as a "High-A" league, indicating its status as a Class A league with the highest level of competition within that classification, and the fifth  with his less-than-blazing fastball but unorthodox delivery that produced 153 strikeouts in 118 innings at Wisconsin. A late arrival to spring training, will begin the season in the JetHawks bullpen but will work his way into the rotation.

KEVIN GRYBOSKI Kevin John Gryboski (born November 15, 1973 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, U.S.), is a Major League Baseball player with the Pittsburgh Pirates of the National League. Gryboski, a right-handed pitcher, was acquired by the Atlanta Braves in January 2002 and traded to Texas in July of 2005 for

His story: A 10-game winner at Wisconsin two years ago, hopes to come back from a dismal 1997 JetHawks season when he went 0-7 with a 9.89 ERA. Had two separate stints on the disabled list.

ADONIS HARRISON

Vitals: 21-year-old 2B from Pasadena; 5-9, 165

His story: Should provide speed and good pop with the bat as the starting second baseman second baseman

KYLE KENNISON

Vitals: 25-year-old RHP from Oxford, Maine; 6-2, 220

His story: Was an excellent setup reliever at Wisconsin last season, collecting six saves while striking out 112 in just 80.1 innings. Will fill a similar role with the JetHawks.

BRANDAN KINGMAN

Vitals: 24-year-old C from Sydney, Australia; 6-4, 230

His story: The team's third-string catcher, Kingman spent four seasons (1992-95) in the Marlins organization but was relased in spring training, 1996. Led the Australian League with 21 home runs last season as a member of the Sydney Blues.

RUSS KOEHLER

Vitals: 23-year-old RHP from Medford, Ore.; 6-5, 215

His story: He missed the past seasons recovering from right elbow surgery. Tossed three scoreless innings in relief during a recent spring training game.

LUIS MOLINA Luis de Molina (born 1535 in Cuenca; died October 12, 1600 in Madrid) was a Spanish Jesuit.

Having at the age of eighteen become a member of the Society of Jesus, he studied theology at Coimbra, and afterward became professor in the university of Évora, Portugal.

His story: Offense has kept Molina from advancing through the Mariners' system. Started quickly with the JetHawks last season but struggled in the second half, batting .229 with 46 RBI.

JOEL RAMIREZ

Vitals: 24-year-old IF from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; 5-10, 155

His story: Added to the JetHawks camp late in spring training, Ramirez is a solid utility infielder who hit .280 with the JetHawks last season.

JASON REGAN

Vitals: 21-year-old IF from Belton, Texas; 5-9, 165

His story: Was promoted to the JetHawks at the All-Star break and bashed 22 homers and drove in 54 runs. He could move to Double-A with a good start.

MATT SACHSE

Vitals: 21-year-old OF from Spokane, Wash.; 6-4, 205

His story: Will be an outfield starter for the JetHawks. Hit .268 at Wisconsin last season but struck out 110 times in 373 at-bats.

AARON SCHEFFER

Vitals: 22-year-old RHP from Westland, Mich.; 6-2, 165

His story: Found his niche as a long reliever with JetHawks in 1997 and will fulfill that role again. Had a 19-4 record the previous two seasons.

DENNY STARK

Vitals: 23-year-old RHP from Edgenton, Ohio; 6-2, 210

His story: Projected as the JetHawks' No. 1 starter, Stark could be at Double-A as early as the All-Star break if he matches his performance in the Midwest League the first half of 1997. Coming off elbow surgery.

BRIAN SWEENEY

Vitals: 23-year-old RHP from Yonkers, N.Y.; 6-2, 185

His story: Had a solid season in the bullpen last year and could be a candidate to close out games with no clear-cut choice among the current relievers.

KARL THOMPSON

Vitals: 24-year-old C from Diamond Bar; 6-0, 180

His story: Was a solid prospect coming out of Santa Clara University in 1995 but struggled at Double-A Memphis in the first half of 1997 and then went on the disabled list with a shoulder injury shortly after being demoted to the JetHawks. Brings experience to the catching spot.

LUIS TINOCO

Vitals: 23-year-old OF from Maracaibo, Venezuela; 6-2, 165

His story: His 1997 JetHawks season ended after just 12 games with a shoulder injury. Is back at full strength and could be one of the team's best all-around players.

RAMON VASQUEZ

Vitals: 21-year-old SS from Cayey, Puerto Rico Cayey (ka-YAI) is a mountain town in central Puerto Rico located on the Central Mountain range, north of Salinas and Guayama; south of Cidra and Caguas; east of Aibonito and Salinas; and west of San Lorenzo Cayey is spread over 21 wards and Cayey Pueblo (The downtown area and the ; 5-11, 170

His story: JetHawks manager Rick Burleson loves the potential of Vasquez, the expected everyday shortstop. Batted .269 with 25 doubles at Wisconsin in 1997.

JOE VICTERY

Vitals: 22-year-old RHP from Ninnekah, Okla.; 6-2, 205

His story: Split time as a starter and reliever for JetHawks last season but is slated for bullpen.

ALLAN WESTFALL

Vitals: 22-year-old RHP from Deltona, Fla.; 5-11, 195

His story: Collected three quick saves with JetHawks but was sent down to Wisconsin. Had three more saves with Timber Rattlers.

GREG WOOTEN

Vitals: 23-year-old RHP from Eugene, Ore.; 6-7, 210

His story: Status as a top pitching prospect is beginning to fade. Went 8-4 with the JetHawks in 1996 and 11-10 at Double-A Memphis in 1997 but is suffering from elbow soreness late in spring training.

JORDAN ZIMMERMAN

Vitals: 22-year-old LHP from Brenham, Texas; 6-0, 200

His story: A top prospect who missed two seasons recovering from back surgery but earned a spot on Seattle's spring training 40-man roster. Will be in starting rotation.
