INDIAN restaurants across most of the UK could be banned from selling balti balti
Noun

Council bosses in Birmingham are thinking of registering it as a trade name which would restrict its use to the balti triangle The Balti Triangle is an area of Balti houses clustered along Ladypool Road, Stoney Lane and Stratford Road, to the south of Birmingham city centre. It covers parts of Sparkbrook, Sparkhill and Balsall Heath.  of the city where the hot and spicy dish originated in the 70s.

A city council spokesman said it has the same right to protect its famous meal as Wensleydale has to its cheese.

He added: "We are always seeking imaginative ways to promote the city."
