A 10-RUN SECOND IGNITES JETHAWKS TO ANOTHER VICTORY JETHAWKS 13, SAN BERNARDINO 8.

Byline: Gideon Rubin Staff Writer

LANCASTER - The manual scoreboard at Lancaster Municipal Stadium allows just one digit to be displayed per inning. It's a minor design flaw at the JetHawks' state-of-the-art facility that's rarely noticed.

But Friday night they needed the extra digit, as the JetHawks sent 16 batters to the plate in a 10-run second inning outburst on their way to a 13-8 win over San Bernardino San Bernardino, city, United States

before 3,158 fans at the Hangar.

The JetHawks' most recent win - their third straight victory and 19th in their last 20 home games - gives them a 7 1/2 game lead over the Stampede, their closest competitors in the South Division's second-half standings.

The JetHawks are 8-1 this season at home versus San Bernardino and own a 34-11 advantage over the Stampede at the Hangar in the five-year history of the Lancaster franchise. But they are winless in five games at San Bernardino Stadium so far this year.

The Stampede took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Joe Thurston Joe Thurston (born September 29, 1979 in Fairfield, California) is a second baseman in Major League Baseball for the Philadelphia Phillies.

The JetHawks record for runs scored in an inning is 12, established April 29, 1997, at home against Bakersfield.

Craig Kuzmic's two-run triple was among 10 hits the JetHawks had in the second-inning massacre.

Juan Silvestre contributed a two-run homer in the fourth - his 25th of the season - and Wilfredo Quintana added a solo blast Noun 1. solo blast - a home run with no runners on base
