:GAP) today announced that it has extended the expiration date Expiration Date

The day on which an options or futures contract is no longer valid and, therefore, ceases to exist.

Notes:
The expiration date for all listed stock options in the U.S.
 for its tender offer to purchase any and all of its outstanding 7.70% Senior Notes due 2004.

The tender offer, which was previously scheduled to expire at 11:59 p.m., New York City New York City: see New York, city.

 time, on December 17, 2001, will now expire at 5:00 p.m., New York City time, on December 19, 2001, unless extended. As of the close of business on December 17, approximately $177.6 million (88.8%) of A&P's Senior Notes due 2004 had been tendered.

Payment for tendered notes will be made promptly after the expiration of the tender offer if the notes are accepted for purchase. Consummation of the tender offer, and payment for tendered notes, is subject to the satisfaction or waiver of various conditions.
