A&P ELECTS CLIFFORD HORLER SENIOR V.P. DEVELOPMENT & REAL ESTATE

 MONTVALE, N.J., Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Inc. announced today that the company's Board of Directors has elected Clifford J. Horler, vice president, engineering and construction to the new position of senior vice president, development and real estate. In addition to his current duties, Mr. Horler will be responsible for real estate administration and development. He will report to Peter O'Gorman, executive vice president. Mr. Horler joined A&P-Canada in 1975 and became vice president, design and construction for A&P-Canada in 1977. He was promoted to corporate headquarters as vice president, engineering and construction in 1987.
 In addition, Brian Pall, vice president-real estate for the company's Waldbaum's subsidiary has been elected corporate vice president, real estate development reporting to Mr. Horler.
