A&E nurse in carjack ordeal; ATTACK: Matron, 51, has car stolen by masked gang.

A NURSE was attacked by men in balaclavas as she left hospital in broad daylight following a long shift in A&E.

The attack happened at Solihull Hospital and police were today urgently trying to trace the gang who made off with her car.

The nurse had finished her shift at the accident and emergency department at Solihull Hospital when she was attacked on Tuesday afternoon.

She was walking to her Volkswagon Golf when she was confronted by two masked thugs who demanded the woman hand over the keys.

A source said she grappled with one of the men before they managed to snatch the keys from her hands.

They sped off from the hospital car park, off in the black car.

The source said: "The matron had just finished her shift and was just going to her car when these masked men jumped on her.

"There was quite a struggle but they ended up getting the keys off her.

"Luckily she wasn't hurt but it was a terrifying ter·ri·fy

Phil Chambers, lead security management specialist, said: "We take the safety and security of all our patients and staff very seriously.
