@pos.com has granted Hand Held Products a license to manufacture, sell, distribute, and support the @pos.com line of retail transaction terminals. The license is one of several which @pos.com is issuing in order to focus on developing its POS hardware and software and Internet-based receipt and marketing services.

This arrangement marks a new development in the evolving relationship between the two companies. Last June, Hand Held Products began selling @pos.com's PenWare 1100, 1500, and iPOS 3100 signature capture devices in its Transaction Team(R) product line. To this line, Hand Held Products now adds @pos.com's newest POS device, an interactive unit with an Internet connection feature, which it will market as the TT4100 TC model. This device displays- personalized ads, promotions, and surveys on a high-resolution color display while customers complete their purchase transactions. In addition to manufacturing the @pos.com models under its own name, Hand Held Products will provide customer and technical support and assume support for the 180,000 installed @pos.com devices.

The partnership results in a significantly larger sales organization and worldwide distribution channel for the POS devices and services deliverable by the web-enabled POS device, a world-class ISO-certified manufacturing capability, and enhanced customer and technical support. In the future, @pos.com and Hand Held Products will work together to develop a new generation of "web-enabled" POS devices and bring to retailers the various services that it enables. These services include:

-- Personalized advertisements, promotions, and surveys customized in real time and delivered to retail countertops via a "Web-enabled" POS device ([e-mail], [e-mail], and [e-mail]); and

-- eReceipts(SM0 , an electronic receipt storage and retrieval service for retailers; and
