@Road iWM 3150 Approved for Use on EDGE Network; @Road MRM Solution is One of the First to Be Approved for Use on Cingular's EDGE High-Speed Data Network.

(Nasdaq:ARDI), a global provider of Mobile Resource Management (MRM) solutions, today announced that the @Road iWM(TM) 3150 Internet Wireless Manager has become one of the first devices with an embedded EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution) wireless communication module to complete the required testing and to be approved for use on the Cingular Wireless EDGE high-speed data network, pending issuance of the final certification. According to the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association, EDGE is an evolutionary step in the Global System for Mobile Communications, or GSM, development path for faster delivery of data up to 384 kilobits per second.

As part of a formal approval process, the @Road iWM 3150 completed and cleared the Federal Communications Commission Part 15 (Radio Frequency Devices) and PCS Type Certification Review Board product testing requirements, along with Cingular Wireless EDGE network compatibility tests.

Using EDGE high-speed data communications technology, the @Road iWM 3150 can provide field service workers with secure, remote wireless Internet access to technical manuals or enterprise applications, such as order entry, billing, customer relationship and inventory systems. Unlike a typical public access point, the iWM wireless access point is fortified with 128-bit WEP encryption and MAC address filtering to help protect sensitive data during communication sessions. The @Road iWM 3150 also incorporates GPS technology, enabling businesses to obtain real-time location information of mobile resources in the field.
