@GlobalTrade Takes CNA Cargo Insurance Certificates To The Bank.

CNA's maritime division announces that it will pilot @GlobalTrade(TM) Secure Payment and Trade Management System, developed by CCEWeb Corporation. This system enables OMMni.com, the automated ocean cargo insurance system to receive instructions to issue electronic insurance certificates over the Internet for exporters participating in the pilot.

OMMni.com is a collaborative effort by CNA's maritime division incorporating MOAC in the U.S., CNA Maritime in the UK, and Eastern Marine Underwriters (EMU) in Canada, in partnership with Insurance Systems Inc. of Toronto. The system provides an innovative alternative to the traditional time-consuming and paper-intensive method of cargo insurance. Insurance Systems Inc. will assist CCEWeb in mapping to the OMMni.com internal system so that the data collected in the instruction template for certificate issuance can flow directly into the OMMni system.

@GlobalTrade makes it possible for a documentary credit to be issued and advised over the Internet from anywhere in the world; eliminates the need to pay cash in advance for purchases; abolishes delays caused by discrepancies in paper-based processing; and allows tracking of the entire transaction process online in real time. After processing the instructions, OMMnicom uploads certificates of insurance to @Global Trade System, in Adobe PDF encrypted with a digital signature.

The pilot is scheduled to run until the Fall of 2001 with buyers, sellers, financial institutions, carriers, freight forwarders, surveyors, customs brokers, chambers of commerce and other trade service providers participating from Asia, Europe and North America.
