999 service to take off.


One of two air ambulances grounded by a cash crisis is preparing to take to the skies again.

The Great North Air Ambulance The Great North Air Ambulance (GNAA) is an English charity based in the United Kingdom. It provides air ambulance services across the North of England from the Scottish border south to North Yorkshire in the east and Cumbria in the west.  Service said Pride of Cumbria, will be back in service on August 1.

The helicopter had flown more than 200 missions from its launch in August last year to being grounded in March.

Organisers said it is hoped that this success can be repeated in the North East when the service can return fully to Northumberland.

The charity is now asking the people of the North East and especially Northumberland to give their full support to the efforts being made to restore a full service.

The service grounded its helicopter based at Blyth indefinitely from the end of March and the third air ambulance air ambulance Emergency medicine A helicopter or, less commonly, a fixed wing aircraft, used to evacuate a person who requires immediate medical attention that cannot be provided at his/her current location  which it had started operating in Cumbria because of a pounds 20,000-a-month shortfall in public donations.
