Founded in 1982, The Houston Food Bank is a private non-profit organization dedicated to combating hunger and food insecurity.  for immediate distribution to the evacuees Resident or transient persons who have been ordered or authorized to move by competent authorities, and whose movement and accommodation are planned, organized and controlled by such authorities. . --Starting over the Labor Day weekend, product donations from our customers will be accepted at designated stores in Houston and in Dallas.

--Starting over the Labor Day weekend, at all 99 Cents Only Stores in Texas, we will give away three free items (food, toiletries, or children's items) to each customer with a valid Alabama, Louisiana, or Mississippi identification.

The foundation of the 99 Cents Only Stores Family is rooted in our communities, beginning with the 1982 opening of our first family-owned store in the Southwest. We are committed to our communities especially during this time of great needs from our neighbors. We pledge our very best to support the families impacted by Hurricane Katrina.
