99 Cents Only Stores Rolls Out Multiple Relief Initiatives to Assist Families Impacted by Hurricane Katrina.

HOUSTON -- The entire 99 Cents Only Stores Family and its over 8,500 Associates in Texas, Arizona, California, and Nevada are united in our commitment to do everything we can to assist the families impacted by Hurricane Katrina. We are offering the following relief initiatives in our stores and from our warehouses, and we ask members of our communities to please utilize our resources to extend a neighborly helping hand during this time of shared adversity:

--99 Cents Only Stores is offering to match 100% of cash donations made by our Associates, up to $99.99 per Associate, to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts.

--99 Cents Only Stores Family is committed to a minimum cash donation of $99,999.99 to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts.

--99 Cents Only Stores Family has dispatched a 48-foot trailer packed with over $30,000 of bottled water, canned foods, toiletries, and children's items to the Houston Food Bank for immediate distribution to the evacuees. Over the next couple of days, we plan to send several more 48-foot trailers of much needed necessities to local food banks and evacuation shelters.

--Starting over the Labor Day weekend, all 225 99 Cents Only Stores in Texas, Arizona, California, and Nevada will accept cash, debit, and credit card donations from our customers.

--Starting over the Labor Day weekend, product donations from our customers will be accepted at designated stores in Houston and in Dallas.

--Starting over the Labor Day weekend, at all 99 Cents Only Stores in Texas, we will give away three free items (food, toiletries, or children's items) to each customer with a valid Alabama, Louisiana, or Mississippi identification.

The foundation of the 99 Cents Only Stores Family is rooted in our communities, beginning with the 1982 opening of our first family-owned store in the Southwest.
