SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 22, 2000

Semiconductor today introduced the AK4112A, a digital audio interface receiver (DIR) compliant with 24-bit, 96kHz data or non-PCM data streams like AC-3.

Although conventional digital audio interface standards (IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission, Geneva, Switzerland, www.iec.ch) An organization that sets international electrical and electronics standards founded in 1906. It is made up of national committees from over 60 countries.

and home theatre systems are capable of transmitting multi-channel audio signals (AC-3/MPEG and others) while data is in compressed form, conventional DIRs are unable to differentiate between non-PCM and existing PCM (1) See phase change memory.

 data.

Development of the AK4112A addresses this need. It is equipped with functions that cope not only with non-PCM audio data but detect compressed formats as well.

AK4112A's low jitter clock recovery circuit, supported by newly-developed high-performance PLL PLL - phase-locked loop , delivers a high-quality master clock output which creates an optimal audio decoder front end for PCM data up to the DVD standard of 24-bit, 96kHz. A de-emphasis filter enables automatic de-emphasis of PCM data reducing the complexity in DSP for pre-emphasized signals.

The AK4112A has a channel selector that enables onboard 4-channel input suitable for current consumer-device applications as well as direct input of unbalanced signals to the built-in amplifier. The 3V or 3.3V power supply makes AK4112A ideal for DSP interfacing and portable applications. In addition to consumer standards, it is compliant to professional standards and performance is adequate as an interface for studio devices such as mixers or effects processors.

Engineering samples of the AK4112A in a 28-pin VSOP VSOP very special (or superior) old pale: used of brandy or port  package are available now. Pricing on the AK4112A is $3.15 in 10K pc quantities.
