911 calls from athlete's death releasedPolice released 911 tapes from the fatal shooting of University of Miami football player Bryan Pata, including a frantic call from his girlfriend. The calls released Thursday were made after girlfriend Jada Brody found Pata, 22, shot outside his apartment complex on Nov. 7. Brody made the first call at around 7 p.m, but the dispatcher had difficulty understanding her through her screams. "I need an ambulance! ... He's laying on the floor bleeding," Brody yelled. A few minutes later, an unidentified man called to say Pata was on the ground, bleeding from his head. Brody was nearby. Someone could be heard in the background trying to revive Pata with CPR. But the 6-foot-4, 280-pound defensive lineman died at the scene. Miami-Dade County police have released few details about the investigation and no arrests have been made. Detectives interviewed several Miami players, and have urged citizens who may have seen or heard something to come forward. A reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Pata played in 41 games over his four-year career at Miami, making 23 starts, and was expected to be chosen in the NFL draft.
