90% of NW firms will grow in next two years.NINE out of 10 North West businesses say they expect to grow over the next two years, with nearly a third aiming for growth of more than 20%. The high level of optimism is revealed in the latest survey of enterprise by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England England, the largest and most populous portion of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (1991 pop. 46,382,050), 50,334 sq mi (130,365 sq km). It is bounded by Wales and the Irish Sea on the west and Scotland on the north. & Wales Wales, Welsh Cymru, western peninsula and political division (principality) of Great Britain (1991 pop. 2,798,200), 8,016 sq mi (20,761 sq km), west of England; politically united with England since 1536. Smaller businesses in the region, employing fewer than 50 people, are forecast to achieve the highest growth, mainly by improving sales and launching new products. During the past 12 months, 60% of firms in the North West say they expanded by increasing sales, while four in 10 attributed growth to the launch of new products. But the survey found the regulatory burden on firms is still increasing. Implementing and complying with legislation costs an average of pounds 14,192 a year, with most of the expense - 73% - borne by the smallest firms. |
