8x8 Adds New Executives to Management Team.

Both Barraclough and Voois were also appointed to 8x8's board of directors.

Since joining 8x8 in 1994, Barraclough has been director of 8x8's consumer video phone business unit. The 31-year-old Barraclough joined 8x8 from Media Vision, where he managed semiconductor development.

From 1988 to 1993, he developed digital video multimedia technology for IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries) . Barraclough received a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from University College, London, and a M.S.E.E. degree from Imperial College, also in London.

"While Keith's management has been instrumental in bringing ViaTV to market, it's the advances in audio and video compression produced by Paul and his software development team that allow ViaTV to achieve good video quality over standard telephone lines," noted Parkinson.

As executive vice president, Paul Voois will be responsible for improving video quality while lowering the cost of the video phone platform. He will also be responsible for mapping the optimum technology path for 8x8 as the company adds other visual communication products to its line.

After completing his Ph.D. in electrical engineering at Stanford University, Voois joined 8x8 in 1994. He also has an M.S. degree in electrical engineering from Stanford and a B.S. degree from Pennsylvania State University Pennsylvania State University, main campus at University Park, State College; land-grant and state supported; coeducational; chartered 1855, opened 1859 as Farmers' High School. . He is 30 years old.
