County's Music Center has announced 88 high school artists and photographers named semifinalists in the 2003 Spotlight Awards Visual Arts visual arts npl → artes fpl plásticas visual arts npl → arts mpl plastiques visual arts npl → competitions in two-dimensional design and photography. More than 300 high school students entered this year's contests. Burbank-based Walter Lantz Walter Lantz (April 27 1899[1] – March 22 1994) was an American cartoonist and animator, best known for founding the Walter Lantz Studio and creating Woody Woodpecker. Foundation donated do·nate v. do·nat·ed, do·nat·ing, do·nates v.tr. To present as a gift to a fund or cause; contribute. v.intr. To make a contribution to a fund or cause. $25,000 for awards to the winners. Submissions were judged by arts and photography professionals. Since 1997, the top-winning designs have been installed as murals in the Music Center garage. Seven finalists will be chosen in each category, and winners will be announced Thursday, March 6.
