It's also unclear which side will get to keep the 805 number and which will get a new combination. The existing area code is expected to run out of phone numbers by early 1999 if it's not split. In the north-south option, Ventura and Los Angeles County would stay together, along with the northern part of the Antelope Valley that lies in Kern County - including Rosamond, Mojave and Edwards. Hescox said coastal county officials made a good case for keeping Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo together. ``They made a very good argument that they do a lot of business together and . . . a lot of inter-county work together,'' Hescox said. But Jesse Juarros, the general services manager for the city of Santa Clarita, said the city is hoping Ventura County will be left with the Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys.
