80-YEAR-OLD HURT TRYING TO BOARD BUS.

GLENDALE - An 80-year-old woman was seriously hurt Thursday when she was hit by a city Beeline bee·line

 bus at a busy intersection - the fourth pedestrian to be hit in the city since Sunday, police said.

Witnesses told police the unidentified woman was trying to catch the bus about noon as it pulled away from the curb on Glendale Avenue south of Broadway.

``It was when the driver had pulled away when she realized a pedestrian had possibly been hit,'' Glendale police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said. ``Due to the nature of the accident, at this time everything is preliminary.''

The incident is under investigation, and police are interviewing witnesses.

The woman suffered broken legs and cuts. She was listed in stable condition at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center (also known as County USC) is an 800-bed teaching hospital located in East Los Angeles in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. .

The woman was the fourth pedestrian to be hit by a vehicle in Glendale this week, Lorenz said.

More than 350 pedestrians have been hit by vehicles since 2000, officials said, and 41 pedestrians have died over the past 11 years. In 2002, Glendale had the fourth-highest number of pedestrians injured in·jure
