By all accounts, Telexpo 2002 once again delivered the highest number of attendees, with the highest quality and most significant buying power registered at any technology focused event in Latin America Latin America, the Spanish-speaking, Portuguese-speaking, and French-speaking countries (except Canada) of North America, South America, Central America, and the West Indies. .

"Telexpo 2002 demonstrated to the world that the communications market is alive and well. We saw more new exhibitors, increased interest from corporate network managers and dramatic increase in the buying power and demand from the attendees than any other year," stated Joseph Flynn, General Manager of Advanstar's Communications Events. "The amount of investment put forth by the exhibitors far exceeded previous years. This was particularly encouraging given the negative news regarding the Telecommunications Industry coming from Wall Street. A sure sign of the continued dominance of Telexpo in Latin America is almost 83% of next year's space is already rebooked."

One of the most significant developments for Telexpo 2002, now in its 12th year, was the fact that of the 80,000+ attendees, 60% registered were senior level IT/Network executives from Brazilian Fortune 1000 Corporations and Government institutions. The remaining 40% came from a wide variety of fixed, Wireless and Internet Service Providers Internet service provider (ISP)

. This shift is an almost complete reversal from previous years and demonstrates a clear example of the convergence of public and private network services and equipment buyers.

and services exhibited at Telexpo 2002, which took place from March 19-22 at EXPO Center North in Sao Paulo. Telecommunications industry leaders such as Telefonica, Siemens, Cisco, Nortel, Nokia, Motorola and others displayed very strong presence at the event, negating the continued downturn in the global telecommunications market.

Some of the more interesting novelties at this year's Telexpo were:
-- The Telexpo Integration Live Pavilion, sponsored by CPM -- a
state-of-the-art Corporate Network Applications Center which displayed
Wireless, Call Center and Network management in a hands-on demo area. CPM,
Brazil's largest systems integrator sponsored the Pavilion.

-- Howard Charney, Senior Vice-President and Board Member of Cisco Systems
delivered a riveting keynote about Productivity through IP Communications.

-- The Telexpo Product Showcase Theatre offered attendees live hands-on
interactive technology demonstrations from 50 top exhibitors, a first for
Telexpo.

The Telexpo 2002 Conference Program was attended by over 1,500 of Brazil's leading business and technical professionals. There was a strong emphasis on this year's program towards business productivity, small to medium size business network infrastructure and business applications for Corporate Networks. Other keynote addresses and presentations from Howard Bubb, Vice President of Intel's Communications Group and Carlos VasConcelos of TELESP Cellular discussed the future of Wireless and Mobile Device Applications.

Telexpo 2003 will take place March 20-24, 2003 at EXPO Center North, in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
