8 SIMI TEENS RELEASED IN WOODLAND HILLS STABBING INVESTIGATION.

Eight Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  teen-agers who were arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing in Woodland Hills early Sunday were released from custody Tuesday, as Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  police detectives continue investigating their possible involvement.

A total of 12 young males were arrested in connection with the stabbing that occurred during a house party. Six of the Simi Valley residents, all 18 years old, were identified by police. They are Jose David Lucas

Aaron Douglas (May 26, 1898 – February 3, 1979) was an American painter and a major figure in the Harlem Renaissance.
 Bowden, Frederick James Estrada and Troy Edward Rushton. Two male juveniles, 16 and 17 years old, from Simi Valley, also were arrested in connection with the stabbing.

The stabbing occurred during a birthday party at a home in the 23800 block of Sylvan sylvan

 Street that the victim, 20-year-old Jason Allan Shaw, shared with two other men, said Detective Rick Swanston, of the Los Angeles Police Department's West Valley homicide unit.

``They had a bunch of balloons and apparently they were filling the balloons with helium or some kind of gas - we're not sure which yet - and they were inhaling the contents of the balloons,'' Swanston said.

, 19, of Chatsworth, apparently approached Shaw and asked for one of the balloons. ``Jason doesn't want to give him a balloon, he doesn't know him, and says get out of my room,'' Swanston said.

A fight then broke out between the two and the suspect was forced to leave, according to according to

Swanston said Baker then rounded up 17 people, including the Simi Valley teen-agers, and returned with them to the house. ``They go back to the house at 1:30 a.m. (Sunday) and go in and stab Shaw.''

Swanston said Baker is suspected of stabbing Shaw.

A second victim also was stabbed. Swanston would not name the second victim, an 18-year-old from North Hollywood, for ``security reasons.''

The others arrested in addition to Baker and the eight Simi Valley teen-agers were Dino Riggio and Christopher Paonessa, both 18 of Chatsworth, and a 17-year-old male juvenile from Northridge.

Riggio was scheduled to face arraignment A criminal proceeding at which the defendant is officially called before a court of competent jurisdiction, informed of the offense charged in the complaint, information, indictment, or other charging document, and asked to enter a plea of guilty, not guilty, or as otherwise permitted  today at Van Nuys Municipal Court. Paonessa and Baker are scheduled for arraignment in the same court Monday, according to a court clerk.

Most of the suspects were arrested shortly after the stabbing. Paonessa was arrested Sunday night at his home in the 21000 block of Lemarsh Street. Riggio, accompanied by his father, turned himself in at the West Valley station Monday night, Swanston said.
