8 HURT IN CRASH; RACING CITED AS POSSIBLE CAUSE.

 Friday night after a teen-age driver who may have been drag-racing lost control of his vehicle and collided head-on with a minivan carrying a family of five, officials said.

The 17-year-old driver and two 15-year-old passengers were heading south along Shadow Pines Boulevard at 9:15 p.m., when their 1995 Acura Integra Integra Dermatology An acellular artificial skin used to cover severe burns and wounds. See Artificial skin, Burns.  drove into a dirt area west of the roadway and spun out of control, said sheriff's Deputy Daniel Finn.

"We believe the Acura may have been racing with another car in the area," Finn said. "We may end up charging someone with misdemeanor misdemeanor, in law, a minor crime, in contrast to a felony. All eight people, all of Canyon Country, were transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

One of the 15-year-olds in the Acura was airlifted to the hospital and was in stable condition with head injuries Saturday. The mother remained in intensive care, in serious-but-guarded condition with internal injuries. The other six were treated and released.

Deputies said they could not disclose the names of those involved, because a criminal investigation has been initiated.
