8 ARRESTED IN APPARENT RACIAL ATTACK.Byline: Bhavna Mistry Daily News Staff Writer Seven Asian-American men and one youth traveling through the Antelope Valley This article is about the Los Angeles County region. For the census-designated place in Wyoming, see Antelope Valley-Crestview, Wyoming. The Antelope Valley were arrested early Sunday morning Sunday Morning may refer to:
Officials said that the Asian-Americans made the comments to two Latino 21-year-old Lancaster residents at the Texaco Star Mart at 43600 block of Challenger Way shortly after 1:30 a.m. ``We don't know Don't know (DK, DKed) "Don't know the trade." A Street expression used whenever one party lacks knowledge of a trade or receives conflicting instructions from the other party. why they were up here,'' said Sgt. Mike Handley. ``They may have come up here to start trouble or saw trouble and started a fight.'' According to a statement released by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department This article is about the Los Angeles County Sherriff's Department, not to be confused with the smaller Los Angeles County Police The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) is a local law enforcement agency that serves Los Angeles County, California. , eight to 10 Asian-Americans walked up to the Latinos and used a racial slur, asking, ``What are you ---- doing here?'' The Asian-Americans then began to beat the Latinos with a Club, an automobile steering wheel lock device, and kicked them before leaving in three lowered vehicles. After notifying authorities, the two Latinos were treated for minor injuries, including bruises and cuts to their faces. Within minutes, deputies spotted the vehicles traveling southbound on the Antelope Valley Freeway The Antelope Valley Freeway is a freeway in Los Angeles and Kern counties in southern California. It is signed as California State Highway 14 along its length. It connects Greater Los Angeles to the rapidly developing Antelope Valley. near the Acton area, where eight suspects were identified by the victims and taken into custody. ``They didn't know each other,'' said Handley. ``None of the suspects were from the Antelope Valley.'' Arrested were Steve Nguyen, Vincent Vongkavivathanakul, his brother Andrew Vongkavivathanakul, Philip Shores, Bryan Matsumoto, Paul Payabyab and Michael Kim. Also arrested was a juvenile, who was not identified except as a resident of Burbank. The adults were estimated to be between 18 and 24 and from the Monterey Park area. They were being held Sunday at the Lancaster sheriff's station without bail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon Assault with a Deadly Weapon is the term used to describe the act of threatening to harm one or more people by using a weapon (usually a firearm). Here, assault must be differentiated from battery as they are often confused. Assault is threatening to use force. . My name is mentioned is Vincent and i am mentioned in the above. The fight started because the 2 latino men were calling us racial slurrs and throwing bottles at our cars. The entire incident is on video tape and none of the people i was with were convicted because of this. The clerks comments to the police were that we (my group) were very polite and were on our way out.

We were with 2 Salvadoreans and 1 mexican friend but they weren't arrested, also out of the eight only 4 of us knew each other and were present at the scene the others had no clue and were arrested because they were asian. What is said in the article is completely false. I was an eyewitness to the incident. It is not a true account on what actually happened that night. The article states that the asian-american men made comments to the two latino men. This is completely not true, the latino men, approached so called group of asian-americans ( this so called "asian-american group" was actually comprised of individuals of diverse ethnic backgrounds) who were already on there way home after stopping by to fill up on gas, the two latino men then approached the group and then made initial racial remarks and acted in a hostile manner. It is also stated that the so called "10 of asian americans" overwhelmed the latino men . The two latino men who were physically bigger and stronger overwhelmed an individual from the group. This again is a grossly inaccurate description of what happened that night. It is false, this is just some junk media hype. Not one individual mentioned in the article spent any jail time or was convicted of any offense. Those people just try to make up story to make them look good. Whose false it is god know. But I believe that the person who try to defend themselves in this manner is a so call coward, who can not take responsible for their own action. So sad I have to sad, such a west of time to read their source of boo.... Just so you know the person commenting above me were gang members at that time. |
