7TH-GRADERS WIN PREVIEW OF COLLEGE LIFE.Byline: Daily News Ten Santa Clarita seventh-graders have won camperships from the American Association of University Women ''This article or section is being rewritten at The American Association of University Women (AAUW) advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research. to spend a summer week focused on math, science and technology on a college campus. The 10 girls, recently honored at a tea at the home of AAUW member Trudi Nash, are Chelsea Campbell, Hannah Goldman, Holly Hein, Chelsea Hoff, Carina Hornbrook, Jakki McCann, Sarah Paquin, Jenny Rios, Chelsea Stevenson and Katherine Stradling. In addition, Cassandra Osorio and Hailey Triggs were named alternates. The winners will spend a week at Whittier College in the 2004 Tech Trek camp. In four other California regions, similar camps will be held on the campuses of Stanford University, Mills College, California State University, Fresno The campus sits at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in the San Joaquin Valley. Fresno County is the sixth largest metropolitan area in California. The university is within an hour's drive of many mountain and lake resorts and within a three- or four-hour drive of both Los , and the University of California, San Diego UCSD is consistently ranked among the top ten public universities for undergraduate education in the United States by U.S. News & World Report.[3] It is a Public Ivy. The organization will request donations of books in August and September to hold another sale this fall.
